The Relation of the Reaction and of Salt Content of the Medium on Nitrifying Bacteria

چکیده
The fiterature of soil bacteriology is replete with assertions to the effect that soil bactena of value for the maintenance of an appropriate soil condition need an alkaline medium for their proper development. This has been repeatedly emphasized, particularly in connection with the nitrifying and the nltrogen-fixing flora of the soil. Actual evidence substantiating such assertions has never been adduced from experiments, or at least, it has never been presented. This situation is, in part, explained by the vagueness of our old conceptions with regard to the real nature of alkalinity and acidity as applied to biological media. I t is natural, therefore, that studies such as those needed to give the subject a proper status should have lagged behind the rapid development of the methods for determining hydrogen and hydroxyl ion concentrations in the last 8 to 10 years. Even such a recent investigation as that of Stephenson (1) on the relations of nitrification to acidity in soils takes no account of the

Isolation and Identification of Carcinogen Acenaphthene-Degrading Endemic Bacteria from Crude Oil Contaminated Soils around Abadan Refinery
Background and Objective: PAHs are non-polar organic compounds consisting of two or more fused benzene multi-rings. Among these compounds, acenaphthene is a multi-ring hydrocarbon that occurs abundantly in nature. Use of microorganisms to clean the contaminations of soil can be cheap and effective. The most important acenaphthene-degrading bacteria are pseudomonas, micrococcus, and Bacillus. Th...
متن کاملDetection of the ectC Gene in Halomonas Strains by Polymerase Chain Reaction
1, 4, 5, 6-Tetrahydro-2-methyl-4-pyrimidine carboxylic acid (ectoine) is an excellent osmoprotectant. Ectoine and hydroxyl ectoines are of great significance to the biotechnology industry, thus the detection and isolation of ectoine producing bacteria is of great importance. Hence, this study involved the detection of the ectC gene (encoding ectoin synthase enzyme) using polymerase chain reacti...

In order to investigate the effect of Pseudomonas fluorescence of plant growth stimulus on yield and yield components of rapeseed under salinity stress, this experiment was a split-factorial split plot based on a complete randomized design with three replications in 97-96 in a research greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture And natural resources of Kermanshah Razi University. Salt stress was consid...
متن کاملEffect of chitosan on antioxidant enzyme activity, proline, and malondialdehyde content in Triticum aestivum L. and Zea maize L. under salt stress condition
Triticum aestivum L. and Zea maize L. are both sensitive to salinity stress which is a major problem faced by farmers today. In the present study, the effect of chitosan, a biologic elicitor under salinity stress was examined on growth parameters and biochemical markers in maize and wheat s...
متن کاملThe isolation of halophilic urease-producing bacteria and the study of their nano-crystal production
Urease-producing bacteria can precipitate calcite nano-crystals by producing urease in the presence of urea and calcium. Calcite precipitation resulting from microbial activity is a process which causes cementation of soil particles in nature. The purpose of this study was to isolate urease-producing halophilic bacteria in order to precipitate calcite in saline soil. Natural samples, including ...
